Just Grab with Kids

We have been rejected by Just Grab twice.  obThe first time, the uncle was really fierce. And I thought it was more because he didn't want to take us because there were 3 adults and 2 kids at that time. The 2nd time we were rejected was more recent. He clearly said he can't take us because of the 2 kids and I must book Grab Family. Well, I've been using Just Grab with my boys for the longest time without issues, so I wasn't aware there was any rule. To be clear I wrote to Grab (also because they are charging cancellation fees for frequent cancellations).



Here's what I got:

Pertaining to child booster seats, GrabShare, GrabCar and private cars that comes instead of a taxi for JustGrab, are to be aligned with LTA regulations which Under the Road Traffic Act, it is illegal for private hire cars, which include Grab, to carry passengers under 1.35m without a booster seat or a child restraint. Unlike taxis, private hire cars do not ply roads for passengers but are hired under a contract. Offenders can face a composition fine of $120 and three demerit points. If charged in court, they can be fined up to $1,000 or jailed up to three months. You may wish to refer to the website below to have better understanding on this regulation. http://www.police.gov.sg/resources/traffic-matters/already-have-a-license/revised-seat-belt-rules-faqs We believe that younger children have a strong attachment to people and objects they are familiar with. They may resist a foreign child car seat, putting parent drivers in a stressful situation – we know it’s not easy handling a young child single-handedly! That’s why we encourage parents to invest in a child car seat early because it takes time to condition children to be buckled into a car seat. For parents who already own one, please bring it along during your next Grab ride. In the event that you have taken GrabCar or GrabShare that allows you to have your child in the vehicle without a booster seats, please be advised that you are not supposed to and if caught by the authority, the driver may be subjected to imprisonment terms. Should you feel that you wish to report some drivers that have provided you a service which have allow you to do so, do reply to us with the booking IDs and we will take the necessary actions required. So yeah. Seems like the 2 uncles were right. I thought to share this for your information to avoid disappointments (like us buhuhu).

I still take Just Grab. Since it actually be private car or taxi. And it's faster to get one than Grab Family. Instead to avoid issues, I just indicate in the notes section that I got 2 young kids.
