DBS, POSB ATMs breakdown
It was a bad start to the week for DBS’ banking system as a technical glitch caused a breakdown to its online banking services islandwide.
Thousands of users were affected as many could not access the systems and withdraw money from DBS and POSBank ATMs.
Some customers Yahoo! Singapore spoke to were frustrated with the breakdown.
Said Bryson Tan, 23, a sales executive, “I needed cash to pay for some items but was left in the lurch as none of the ATMs was working.”
Another disgruntled user, Mohd. Kassim, 45, was equally disappointed when he found out he couldn’t make any cash withdrawals.
“I can’t believe such a thing could happen to a bank such as DBS and I hope they rectify the situation fast,” he said.
Freelance writer Angie Lim, 22, needed cash to get to work but ended up borrowing from a friend instead.
“It was really inconvenient going from one ATM to another and none of them was working,” she said.
It was reported that the breakdown occurred at 6.30am and DBS has apologised on its website for the inconvenience caused.
According to its latest update at 10.30am, all DBS, POSB and Treasures branches are up and operational while other services such as internet, mobile banking and credit card services are being restored.
