Food Review: Hai Di Lao Hot Pot
The place is always packed every time we passed by, so I was long time intrigued. When we passed by during the CNY and found no queue, I took the opportunity to bring the boys for lunch.
Most of the staff do NOT speak English. And the place did not come with a manual. Haha.
The appetizers (chips, popcorn), desserts (fruits, ice cream) and drinks (winter melon, water, tea) are FREE and eat/drink all you can. We DID NOT know. What the heck. Haha.
The server (because of the limited English) brought us this. It was SUPER HOT. I think my head turned RED. OMG. And when another server noticed us, she removed the chili and the soup became a bit more tolerable. What the heck.
No wonder they had this big bucket of ice beside us.
I didn't know what to order, the limited English prevented the servers to recommend anything. So I chose what Paopao would eat.
I'm not a fan of black chicken. In fact, it shared the heck out of me.
And here's our cooked food.
Verdict. The boys loved the popcorn. Mamon had 2 servings of it. Paopao had 2 servings for ice cream. But that's about it. No. Not coming back.
Ohhh, they have a small playground for kids. Which we saw after we paid. Haiz. No. Not coming back really. At least until they put English speaking folks who could do better recommendations.

There's never been a culture that wasn't obsessed with Food. The sort of sad thing is that our obsession is no longer about food, but with the price of food.
